Rhythm Id Makes Malaysian History at Bali Salsa Fiesta 2011

Latin Dance Malaysia, your online blog about the latin dance scene here in Malaysia.

We bring you the latest happening about the latin dance scene here in Malaysia... from the salsa dance scene to bachata dance scene to zouk dance scene... this is your source of information~!!!

Rhythm Identity Dance Academy, Best lf Latin Flavours has made Malaysia proud~!

They were recently at the Salsa Fiesta Bali 2011 whereby they made Malaysian history as the first Malaysian latin dance school/team/performer to have been given the honour to do the closing performance at an international event out of Malaysia~!!!

Rhythm Identity closed both performance nights with their outstanding performances and did Malaysia proud. They went into the event with a total of 5 performances; a 3-couple zouk group, a 4-dancer ladies salsa shine group, a 6-couple bachata group, a 10-dancer bollywood group and finally a single couple salsa routine to close the final performance of the wonderful event.

Linline Salsa Holidays has done it again with a wonderful and amazing event at the island of Bali whereby participants not only attended workshops by world reknowned instructors, danced the night away, watched superb performances but they also got to enjoy the beauty of Bali in a relaxing holiday style getaway. This is truly a salsa festival unlike any other.

The Bali Salsa Fiesta 2011 saw a host of talented instructors. We have Nestor Manuelian & Katrina Quintal (LDA, Sydney), Lidia McMahon & Raffi (LDA, Sydney), Ulysses & Jasmine (LDA, Sydney), Vineet & Sahibba (India), Alisson & Audrey (Perth), Tse Yi (Singapore), Gupson (Singapore), Reyno (Indonesia) as well as Jaxen & Cecilia (Rhythm Id, Malaysia).

Many thanks should be awarded to the Malaysian team of Rhythm Identity for their effort in putting Malaysia on the international dance scene.

To Harry & Evelyn for the 1st night closing performance with their bachata team consisting of Steven, Mazmi, Jerome, Sharon, Simon, Phoebe, Bani, Christie, Justin and Tsu Yi.

To KD for the ladies salsa shine team consisting of Evelyn, Rachel and Jamalia.

To Evelyn for the bollywood ladies team consisting of KD, Sharon, Helen, Jeannee, Kelly, Mazmi, Phoebe, Christie and Tsu Yi.

To Jaxen & Cecilia for the zouk performance team consisting of Harry, Helen, Jerome and Jeannee.

And finally to Jaxen & Cecilia for the final night's closing performance where they danced salsa to Bon Jovi's It's My Life; a routine inspired by their idols Jordan & Tatiana.

Let's hope there will be more of such a wonderful event as the Bali Salsa Fiesta 2011.

What Makes A Good Dancer; Workshop by Rachel & Cheryl

What Makes A Good Dancer

Workshop by Rachel & Cheryl

Saturday 19th March 2011

What makes a good dance partner?

It can be a simple routine. Some of us do it beautifully. Some do it mechanically. How do you do it?

Have you been practicing the steps so much with your partner until BOTH of YOU can dance well together? BUT you have DIFFICULTIES when you CHANGE partner?

Leader learns to give clear physical cue with clear body weight shift.
Follower learns to read visual and physical cue to sync with the weight shift.

Learn to dance with energy and allow a flow of power, be it in open hold or close hold. Understanding the transfer of weight shift not only within yourself but with your partner and music. It’s all about tension control.

Good social dancers need to feel each other's responses. If your partner cannot feel you, you are not dancing together. You may be doing the (right) steps together but only dancing by yourself.
