What Makes A Good Dancer; Workshop by Rachel & Cheryl

What Makes A Good Dancer

Workshop by Rachel & Cheryl

Saturday 19th March 2011

What makes a good dance partner?

It can be a simple routine. Some of us do it beautifully. Some do it mechanically. How do you do it?

Have you been practicing the steps so much with your partner until BOTH of YOU can dance well together? BUT you have DIFFICULTIES when you CHANGE partner?

Leader learns to give clear physical cue with clear body weight shift.
Follower learns to read visual and physical cue to sync with the weight shift.

Learn to dance with energy and allow a flow of power, be it in open hold or close hold. Understanding the transfer of weight shift not only within yourself but with your partner and music. It’s all about tension control.

Good social dancers need to feel each other's responses. If your partner cannot feel you, you are not dancing together. You may be doing the (right) steps together but only dancing by yourself.
